For diffusivities in liquids there is no good accurate theory. Having stated this, the "sphere in liquid" theory can give some good estimations. If water is very dilute in
the polymer, the water will have a diffusivity of around 1 x E-9 m2/s. Further reading in the book:

: Hi,
: I am a process for where a water diffuses through a commercial polymeric compound in liquid phase. The compound is a phenolic resin. Could anybody tell me how to calculate the diffusivity of the water through polymer?
: I do not know the chemical structure of the compound.

: Thanks,
: Vikram
